Hand-Scraped Hardwoods

As a designer, I've always wondered why homeowner's seem to focus mainly on adding color and texture to their walls, but neglect to add much of any visual interest to their floors or ceilings?  Are they not deserving of a design treatment?

Why must ceilings always be white and floors always be smooth? Why not add some color up there and a little texture down there and spice things up a bit?! Make your home interesting, make it unique, and most importantly make it you!

If any of you reading this are Facebook fans of Carpet Source Flooring or followers of @Carpet_Source on twitter, then you've heard me rave about Hand-Scraped hardwood floors! The first time I saw these, was when we installed them at the President's house at Roberts Wesleyan College. What a way to add visual interest to your floors in a classic, tasteful and trendy way. I highly suggest, if you are interested in new flooring for your home, and are considering Hardwood, you stop by our store first and see our selection.  Here are a few examples of a Hand-scraped look..

This is a line we carry by Urban Floors in the Royal Court collection, called Regent
Also, lighting is yet another great way to add visual interest to your home. As seen here, the homeowners chose to incorporate lighting below their cabinetry and I just love this look!  Always been a fan of lighting above cabinetry too, but if you have a floor with a lot of texture and visual interest, you can add rope lighting below the cabinets to accentuate those details.
Dynasty, is their ultra dark brown shade.
Anyway, stop by and check it out! And remember it's the little things that really make a space magical. So have fun with your remodel project & get creative with the help of one of our design professionals.
